2016 CHRYSLER 300C – DAUNTLESS AND EFFICIENT

The sixties and the 70s were mainly dominated by the so-called three large ones. The Australian family car market was described as ‘Holden, Falcon and Valiant’ and always in that particular order. They mainly had a large six-cylinder engine or a V8 under the hood.

Chrysler’s brave fell when Mitsubishi took control of Chrysler, effectively leaving the fight to fight between Holden and Falcon. Well, now it’s about 40 years later, and the tables have become because the positions have been completely reversed. The disappearance of the hawk and the Commodore meant that the Great Chrysler was left alone in its own segment.

The car in question is the Chrysler 300C. He has been on sale since 2005 and, although it has never been a great success, the people who bought these vehicles really loved them. Let’s face it, I had some fairly significant defects. The only reason to own one was for: a) really like him or b) force himself to possess him. However, there are no errors about it: you know a 300 when you see it on the road.

EXTERIOR DESIGN

The second generation was launched in 2012, and received an improvement in average life in 2015 with some small changes. These include things like the new honeycomb grill with Chrysler’s wing badge in the center and not at the top. There are also new LED fog lamps and daytime operating lights. See it from the profile, and you instantly see the characteristic base shoulders and the very high band line. The designs of the wheels are entirely new, and can have them in 18 or 20 inches. The back receives a new fascia, as well as the rear LED lights. It’s a handsome gross that you have to give it.

Although previously it was available as a sedan or a wagon (including the diesel engine as an option), the new range of 300 is only a room body and gasoline engine options. The four variants of this vehicle are luxury 300c, 300c, the core of 300 srt and the flagship 300 srt.

As its name suggests, 300 SRT (sports and racing technology) is the pinnacle of what the new alignment has to offer. The Chrysler 300C is the entry-level model from only $ 42,000 and luxury 300c ($ 35,000) is one step over. However, SRT variants operate upside down. The 300 SRT costs $ 52K, and is the definitive model of the sports range, while the core of 300 srt cuts the features, but also in the price at $ 46K. Represents the base model of the sport range 300.

We mention that the central edition of the SRT obtains fewer devices (they had to save $ 10,000), but let’s see where that cost savings come from. You do not get: adjustable suspension, leather adjustment, headlines of cold drinks, satellite navigation, seating vent, Harman Kardon audio carpets and cargo hills and a network. Honestly, I could live without those things perfectly fine, although it is the adjustable suspension that really gives the SRT its upper part of the line’s ability.

INTERIOR DESIGN

More importantly, the important characteristics of the SRT are the additional security features, such as blind tips monitoring, lane, assistance, forward collision mitigation and lane outlet warning. These are standard in Luxury 300c but not in the nucleus.

Both models have 20-inch alloy wheels. They are machined for the core and are adjusted to the SRT (for greater strength). Brakes are Four-piston Brembos (black at core and red at SRT).

The Chrysler 300 has excellent slaves background and head space, but the back space can be tightened a little if you want to settle three adults. It is ideal for four occupants in total. The boot has a capacity of 462L, which makes it one of the best in its respective segment. The rear seats are folded in a divided 60/40 manner that allows you to obtain even more loading space.

The U-Connect multimedia system, Avid readers will know, is one of the worst infographic systems we have found. It is operated through the 8.4-inch touch screen color monitor that is located in the center of the instrument board.

Transmission and performance options of 2016 Chrysler 300C

The 300C has the same engine Pentar V6 of 3.6 liters. Develops 210KW and 340 nm of torque less than 4300 rpm. The most powerful version in SRT has a massive HEMI of 6.4 liters V8 producing 350kw and 637 nm of torque. Chrysler will not give official numbers, but sprint 100 km / h takes little less than five seconds.

Both motors are paired at an eight-speed automatic Torquequelite ZF, which is especially nice at SRTs (previously had the old five speeds). SRT models even get paddle turns now. He talks about improvement over his predecessor.

Fuel consumption is quite poor, however. Listed at around 13.0l / 100km in the combined cycle, we can say that it is a bit optimistic. Real consumption is around 15L / 100km. Although it may seem very much, remember that this is a large sedan with a massive V8 under the hood.

By pressing that engine start button at 300 SRT, it gives you a good blow from the massive unit. It makes fun and cough in idle with the monstrosity that can only produce a HEMI engine.

The board release control allows the driver to configure its preferred release coatings, hold the brake and accelerator, release the brake and woof … You are on the way to a Sub-Five Sprint Sprint at 100 km / h.

There are three driving modes: street, sport and track. Adjustrated the direction, stability control and traction control, as well as the configuration of the suspension, the throttle and the transmission.

The new gearbox of eight speeds is a great improvement over the old five speeds. It is not just that you have more gears, but it’s at least twice as fast when you have to do it down or in the installation. It is almost perfect compared to the ancient relic.

PRICE

With prices starting at only $ 32k for the base model, it is extremely affordable. If you want the Big Shouty V8, however, you will have to complete at least $ 46,000.
